Younger, fresher looking skin

Facial rejuvenation treatments to help you tackle those tell-tale lines and wrinkles as your skin ages over time

botox® line and wrinkle reduction

Botox® is a fantastic method for tackling those telltale lines and wrinkles that begin to age our skin over time. By injecting small amounts of Botox® into targeted facial muscles, it is possible to stop the muscles from contracting temporarily to give your skin a younger, smoother appearance. If you suffer from any of the following problem areas (and most of us do as we grow older), then Botox® may be the right treatment option for you.

Frown lines
Forehead lines
Crow’s feet
Nose to mouth lines
Lines around the mouth (Marionette lines)
Smokers’ lines
Bunny lines
Dimply chin

I can also use Botox® to achieve a non-surgical eyebrow lift and to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) very successfully. I have extensive training and experience of using Botox® and can talk you through the various procedures to help you decide what is right for you. If I feel that Botox® is not the right solution for you at this time, I will tell you so from the outset.

botox® treatment journey

What is Botox®?

Botox® is a brand name for Botulinum Toxin Type A, which is a purified natural protein chemically derived from bacteria. When injected into a muscle, it causes temporary muscular relaxation, thereby reducing the appearance of wrinkles by up to 80%.

Is Botox® safe?

Botox® has been used for cosmetic purposes for more than 20 years and has an exceptional safety record. Like all other prescription medicines, however, suitably trained professionals should administer your treatment. In the right hands, Botulinum Toxin is a very safe drug, with minimal side effects and complications.

How does Botox® work?

When Botox® is injected, it stops a signal being transmitted between targeted nerves and muscles, thereby preventing the individual muscle fibres from contracting. It is this repeated contraction, caused by our facial expressions, that produces wrinkles over time. The effects of Botox are temporary, so, as the toxin is broken down and removed by the body, the muscles recover their normal function.

How often can I have my Botox® treatments repeated?

I would always advise that you wait at least three months between repeat treatments. Certainly, the effects of your previous treatment should have worn off before you book a repeat appointment.

Are the effects of Botox® noticeable straight away?

No, Botox® takes between three and fourteen days to take full effect.

How long does Botox® last?

On average, Botox® treatments last approximately four months but this can vary from one individual to another.

What does the treatment involve?

Before I commence your Botox® treatment, I will discuss your problem areas with you and then explain your best options, as well as answering any questions you may have. You will need to sign a consent form before I take pre-treatment photos.

Before your treatment, I will apply a numbing cream to the relevant area and mark the sites I need to inject. After cleaning the area, I will administer the treatment using very fine needles. I will then apply anti-bruising cream.

What are the possible side-effects?

Some people experience small raised bumps of skin at the injection site. Although these may be slightly red, they typically go down 20 minutes after the treatment. Bruising may also occur but this should quickly subside.

You may also experience a mild headache after having a Botox® treatment but this is treatable using over-the-counter pain medication.

Will my face still look natural? I’m worried about looking frozen and expressionless!

Undoubtedly, there are people in the public eye who have taken their use of Botox® too far. However, I will always strive to leave you with a natural look, minimising the risks of side effects and helping you retain a full range of expression.

Is Botox® suitable for everyone?

Botox® may not be suitable for everyone (for example, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with certain allergies, and anyone taking anti-coagulant medication). Before commencing with your treatment, I will take a full medical history and advise you whether Botox® is the right option for you or not.

You can book a facial rejuvenation consultation with Dr Stephen Dodd by completing the booking form below.

Are Botox® injections painful?

Because the needles I use are so fine, Botox® injections are relatively painless. To be on the safe side, however, I apply a numbing cream to the area before your treatment.

Fuller, healthier looking skin with dermal fillers

Dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid to restore the lost volume in our skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance that starts to diminish as we grow older. Dermal filler treatments can help create definition and refresh your appearance, so that your skin looks much younger, fuller and smoother.

If you suffer from any of the following problem areas, then dermal fillers may be the right treatment option for you.

Frown lines
Forehead lines
Nose to mouth lines
Lines around the mouth (Marionette lines)
Smokers’ lines
Bunny lines

Dermal fillers are also a popular treatment option to sculpt and define your lips and cheeks, both of which are areas of the face that tend to show our age. I have extensive training and experience of using dermal fillers and can talk you through the various procedures to help you decide what is right for you. If I feel that dermal fillers are not the right solution for you at this time, I will tell you so from the outset.

What does the treatment involve?

During a comprehensive consultation, I will discuss the problems that are bothering you and identify the best treatment options. Once you decide to go ahead with the treatment, you will need to sign a consent form; I will also take some pre-treatment photos at this stage. After applying some numbing cream, I will inject the dermal filler into the middle layer of your skin in small doses using a very fine needle.

What are dermal fillers?

Most dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body but that starts to deplete from our late 20s onwards. By injecting dermal fillers into the skin, it is possible to restore lost volume or create definition around the naturally more hollow areas of the face, such as around the mouth and nose.

Will I be able to see the results straight away?

Yes, with dermal fillers the results are immediately apparent. Do remember though that it’s common for the treated area to be slightly red, swollen or bruised for a short while after your treatment.

How long does the treatment take?

Each treatment usually takes between ten and thirty minutes, depending on the area I am treating.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Dermal fillers have an excellent safety record, but should always be administered by an experienced professional. I have a lot of facial aesthetics experience and training, and I am happy to answer any questions you may have about wrinkle reduction treatments.

How long do the effects of dermal fillers usually last?

This varies substantially from one individual to another. Factors such as the area treated, smoking, age, degree of correction required, type of filler and volume injected all come into play here.
